No time! - October 26, 2015

Hey, all!!

So a lot happened this week, most of it involving deep cleaning the Comtes house so they could check out and head back to the US. They finally got their orders, and everything finished and are now staying in the lodge and just waiting for their flight in the morning back to the US. We're going to miss them, dearly. They are all wonderful people with a great love of the Gospel, and of their friends.

We had a lot of laughs, and did a lot of cleaning, and played a lot of games, and made many good memories. But life moves on, and we just have to keep going. We take the hard parts one day at a time, and pray, read our scriptures, and make sure people know we love them. We just have to be sure that we put the important things first, and everything else will fall into its proper place, or fall out of our lives, just like President Benson said. I know that it's true, and that this church is true, and at, as long as we are keeping things where they need to be, everything will work out. Man, I can tell my testimony has grown so much in the last year. It's amazing the things you see as a missionary. I love it!

I'm sorry it's short this week. I'm running out of time. I love you all, and hope everything is going well!

Dang, it's cold!! - October 19, 2015

Liebe Grüße ihr Lieben!

So, I'm running short on time, so I'm going to keep this short with a couple cool experiences, and some funny stories. Okay?

Okay, just kidding, I only have 3 stories.

1) we had a bag of quarters sitting in our apartment when I got here back in August. Someone at the Food Bank had asked the German Sisters a while back to exchange Quarters for Euro - no idea why, because we can't actually do that, and then they asked the American Sisters at the time to ask some members if they would do that. But no one did anything with them, so they just sat there in this bag for heaven knows how long. Anyway, Sister Lyman and I decided it was bugging us, and went to the Food Bank 3 days in a row, carrying about 20 pounds of quarters. I kid you now, there were that many. I'm not sure exactly how many pounds, but it was heavy. And hurt my shoulder. Anyway, we were finally able to track down the lady, and give her quarters back. It was such a relief.

2) we had beef and beans, like 4 days this week. Well, I did, anyway. It was fun. We had Tuesdays left over Chili on Thursday for dinner in the form of an enchilada. It was yummy. And I was stuffed. Also, that was the first time we'd had dinner without a member in a long time. And then we went to Institute. The whole time we were traveling, I was telling Sister Lyman "I'm so full! i hate my life!" My stomach hurt so bad. And the member fed us pulled pork sandwiches, potato salad, and cupcakes. I just about died. I just kept thinking "I'm gonna die." It's fun to think back on, but at the time, I almost died.

3) we met with Bobby again on Sunday, we talked to him about the Book of Mormon, and a few other things, and made sure to bare testimony, and it went well. I hope we can help him understand The Gospel better.

Is there anything I can do to help any of you?
Have a good day/week.
I love you, all!

Life continues, even when you're sick - October 12, 2015

Hello, all!!

So, Monday we were at the Comtes. We had a chill p-day, played games, and had a party. I was sick, so things took a little longer than we would have liked, but, so is the life of a sick missionary. We also finished Conference -- so we got 3 days of it- - and it was fabulous! My favorite talk was probably -- actually, I really can't decide. All the talks I thought were amazing go as follows (not necessarily in this order) Uchtdorf, Maynes, Marriott, Lawrence, Hales, Holland, Oakes, Monson, Rasband, Stevenson, Renlund, Nelson, Christofferson, Durrant, Haynie,Clark, and Bednar. So, basically all of conference :)

Tuesday we had the fellowship feast (dinner together), at the Rolfe's, and the Sloughs came, and we had a fun little party getting to know each other. We had fajitas, homemade, and they were fabulous:)

Wednesday, we had a split, took the wrong train coming back (good job, Sister Montgomery), and were late to our appointment with the Pullans. Because it was going the wrong direction, and we had to wait for the next train. Thankfully, they didn't mind, and everything else went well. It was fun :)

Thursday, Zumba was canceled, so we went over to the Comtes, because she'd signed us onto base, and ended up cleaning their house -- in half an hour. I was quite impressed. Then we went to a "german class" appointment. It was my first time teaching solo -- Sister Funk didn't know what all we were doing, but she helped where we could. We basically reviewed everything we'd already taught her -- and later, Sister Fink said I'm a really good teacher. That made me feel good. She also said that we do a lot of service and it's evident how much we love the people by how much we serve. That was an eye opener. I had never thought how much service we do.

Friday, we were at the Ashles for dinner. It was hectic, -- her friend was in the hospital having a baby, so she was watching the older daughter, and we helped clean the house, and we helped make some Asian dish. It was yummy. We revised Sister Ashles family mission plan with her, and she took stuff from "the family, a proclamation to the world," and it was really cool how she found ideas from that. Sister Ashle's amazing :)

Saturday, we helped the Comtes clean some of their stuff out, and Bobby cooked dinner. It was absolutely fabulous. He cooked a roast, scalloped sweet potatoes in a cream sauce, home made Mac and Cheese, stuffing, and a couple other dishes. I wish I had a picture, but sadly, I didn't get one this time around.

Sunday, we had dinner with the Ayalins. She's German, and he's a convert, they met on a blind date of some sort or another. It was s super cute story :) I love our ward

Love ya, family! I hope everything is going well. I'm excited to hear from you about all your fun stories.

Have a good week!

My life is boring. So I wrote a poem - October 5, 2015

Hi!!

Monday, was shopping, and buying a dress.
We had a party, and I had success.
I found a Dirndl, one I truly adore.
I'll send you a picture. You'll love it, I'm sure.
We went to a castle, but the museum was closed,
The scenery was stunning, and I wasn't opposed
So around we went, traveling up the hill
We went on a quest, we had pictures to fill!
For Family Home Evening we had an Art Fest
We talked about Conference, and the importance to listen,
And made notebooks to hold inspiration relieved

Tuesday wasn't special, we had some go-bys,
out in the boondocks, a 40 minute bus ride
Then off to the Pullans, and had dinner over there
It was tasty, ghetto navaho tacos
And then we went home, and we thought life was fair

Wednesday was hectic, and made me go nuts
We had DDM, this week it was late,
And we had to leave early, no ifs and or buts
And the busses here, for some reason, like to disappear through the gate
Into other dimensions, and not help us succeed
In missionary work, we struggle with transport,
The system is good, but just not perfect

Thursday was rough, we had 2 appointments cancel
But all worked out, and we still broke the seal
The seal I refer to, is actually not real,
But we helped some members learn German, and life remained sweet

Friday, I was afflicted with illness and snot
My sinuses were stuffed, nose running away
We had weekly planning, and then out for the day
We went bowling with members, and boring it was not

Saturday, was service, bei Familie Comte,
We cleaned out their basement, with 8- legged friends.
I played Trash Compactor, and stomped papers down
And sang "Traveling Soldier," without the others making a sound
Then shredded papers, and had a partay

Sunday, was spent with the company of friends
And many a sweet word of nourishment from above
We were with the Comtes, and the other missionaries
The Elders watched Priesthood, while we prepped the snacks
And then we watched

Anyway, I love you all, and hope everything is going well for you.
I hope you enjoyed my poem. It took me a while to write.

Bis Nächste Woche!! Ich hab' euch lieb!
